Welcome to Transmission Australia
Chains and Sprockets
The chain / sprocket combination is used to transfer power from the driving component such as a motor or gearmotor to the application. Applications include conveyor systems, crushers, compressors, process lines and general speed reduction. Chain and sprockets are well suited to high torque applications in comparison to belt and pulley which are better suited to high speed applications.
Transmission Australia offer a diverse range of chain and sprockets including :
- British Standard
- American Standard
- Attachment
- Agricultural
- Heavy Duty
- Simplex/Duplex/Triplex
- Specialty Chain
- Leaf

Couplings and Clutches
Shaft couplings are used to join two in-line rotating shafts, allowing torque to be transmitted from one shaft to the other. Depending upon the application, shaft couplings may be flexible or rigid, backlash free, torque limiting or spacer type. Clutches allow shafts to be connected and disconnected easily.
Transmission Australia offers a full range of couplings and clutches:
- Light duty, fractional HP up to heavy industrial MW drives.
- Rigid couplings for mixer drives.
- Flexible couplings to accommodate shaft misalignment and shock loads.
- Torque limiting couplings.
- Fail safe couplings
- Spacer couplings to accommodate shaft separation and ease of maintenance.
- Backlash free and low inertia couplings for positioning and measurement.
- Flywheel mount couplings for diesel engines.
- Electromagnetic and pneumatic clutches allow shafts to be easily connected and disconnected.
- Brakes and holdbacks are essential in retarding loads and for safety devices.
- Fluid Couplings are a traditional method of soft starting to avoid potentially damaging shock at startup.
- Servo couplings for zero backlash, torsionally rigid torque transmission. Compensation for radial, axial and angular misalignment with low inertia from 5 to 1000Nm.
The Transmission Australia range of couplings includes:
Jaw, HTC, Cone ring, Tyre, Chain, Disc, Gear, Torque limiter, Grid, Elastomeric and Hydraulic (fluid) couplings.
Electromagnetic clutches, pneumatic clutches, cam clutches and electromagnetic brakes are also available.
